Do not change your dose or stop taking SYMTUZA® without talking to your healthcare provider. When your supply starts to run low, get more from your healthcare provider or pharmacy right away. This is very important because the amount of virus in your blood may increase if the medicine is stopped for even a short time. The virus may develop resistance to SYMTUZA® and become harder to treat.

Taking SYMTUZA® with food.

Taking SYMTUZA® with food will make sure that your treatment will be absorbed effectively. This means more medicine is available to work in your body.

While timing your medication around eating is important, the type of food you eat with SYMTUZA® isn’t. Always be sure to take your medication as directed by your healthcare provider.

Planning for success.

Being prepared and committed to taking your HIV medication the right way starts with talking to your healthcare provider.

Here are a few of the things you can discuss at your next appointment:

  • Your daily schedule
  • How much HIV medication you should take
  • Any issues that might make adherence challenging, such as difficulty swallowing pills
  • When and how to take HIV medication
  • Other medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal supplements
  • Whether your weight or health conditions (such as diabetes or high blood pressure) will be affected by HIV medication
  • What kind of side effects you can expect
